Chamberlain’s Youth Services received a significant $10,000 grant this year from the Community Foundation for San Benito County and a generous $4,000 grant from the County of San Benito to assist with the addition of a second classroom to their Keith Thompson Non-Public School, expanding their capacity for special education students from 12 to 24.

Executive Director, Patrick Ellis says “The expansion of our student capacity is an important step forward in serving the complex special education needs of our community, right here in our community. The second classroom will open additional space for our district partners, adding another option to meet the needs of SBC students.”

Donations also came from Guild Mortgage, SC Stone Fabrication, Legacy Roofing and several community members that attended the Ribbon Cutting on August 2nd held in collaboration with the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce. Chamberlain’s partnered with local contractors R & D Building Solutions and was able to open on time (August 19th) for the start of the new school year.  Special Education Teacher, Matthew Morrison says “The addition of the second classroom has already begun having a strong impact on student learning. The environment has helped students feel more connected to their learning through the use of technology, interactions with staff, and access to curricular materials. The structure in the environment has created a warm atmosphere that supports all students and staff in meeting IEP goals and program objectives.”

Many thanks to the Community Foundation for San Benito County, the County of San Benito and all of the donors in our community for investing in the education of our youth. Your contribution is making a real difference.
